I went to one of my favorite parks in Kentucky to take my maternity photos, Giles Conrad Park. And no it is not because it has my last name though I found that funny!  My husband is behind the camera and my eldest daughter is assisting in the photo shoot. Although I am the subject of this session, I am directing my husband and showing him where a good photo could be captured, helping him adjust lightening if necessary and critiquing any flaws I see in the photo. But I can't take all the credit! He pointed out some great things as well.

This is the second photoshoot I have done here and there is a reason why I keep coming back. There are so many areas that make great photos and I find the lighting to be perfectly lit later in the day during the fall.  With adequate lighting you'll get beautiful Maternity photos. Before I got here I went to another park favorite to try to take some photos but it was hard finding good photography spots and the lighting was so harsh. I grew greatly frustrated and my confidence as a pregnant woman decreased.  I walked away feeling so insecure thinking it had to do with the way that I looked and not the lighting or park itself. Going though that helped me realize how this can be a hard time for women dealing with insecurities during pregnancy.

I used to think that a maternity session had to be this glamourous session with a goddess dress and maybe some elegant head gear. But I am realizing that the most beautiful photos are the most simple ones. Grab your favorite dress or maybe a favorite jacket to switch up the photos and these photos become your own. Different poses can easily created by simply placing your hands in different places and positions and even capturing you admiring a beautiful flower!

Getting behind the camera gives me the experience of knowing what you may or could be feeling in your photo shoot.  This helps me to be prepared and thoughtful with my clients while working with them. After coming back to Giles Conrad Park for my second maternity shoot my mood greatly increased as each photo was taken and every photo got better from there on out. Location is everything when it comes to any photo shoot, it can determine not only how your photos turn out but how much time your pictures get back to you. The less editing I have to do the faster your photos get back to you!

Even though it began shaky and I had a moment of let down,  I went back out there because if you if at first you don't succeed try again. Now when I look at my maternity photos I see me and not all the images of everyone else I went through on Pinterest trying to decided what my maternity shoot should look like. I encourage you to first ask yourself "What do I want?" then the rest will follow. Staying true to who you are will create perfect beautiful pictures reminding you of that special time in your life. After all that is what matters the most right?

I look forward to working with you on this journey in your life. If you have any questions do not hesitate to ask me!
